BETHESDA, Md. – May 27, 2020 – The Import Vehicle Community, a segment community of the Auto Care Association, last week launched Coffee and Conversation, a new educational audio series available on the Auto Care Digital Hub. Coffee and Conversation addresses the issues and challenges facing not only the association’s members, but the auto care industry as a whole.

The Coffee and Conversation series will feature panelists who provide their unique perspectives on the challenges and opportunities facing our industry and subject matter experts to give an update on broader industry issues such as right to repair and brand protection against counterfeits.

The inaugural episode of Coffee and Conversation is available now and focuses on the topic of current manufacturing shutdowns in Mexico, including the impacts they are having on the supply chain to automotive OE parts, vehicle production and the automotive parts aftermarket.

The episode is moderated by John Treece, chairman, Import Vehicle Community, and features panelists Fred Snow, president, Hella, Inc. and Stephen Bearden, president, H.B. International Marketing Services. In this episode, the two industry leaders discuss:

  • Current situation in Mexico related to manufacturing shutdowns;
  • What to expect following the Mexican government's announcement to reopen auto parts manufacturing; and
  • Longer-term impacts and lessons learned.

The next episode of Coffee and Conversation will be released in early June and will discuss how e-commerce is changing consumer behavior and how businesses are adapting to this new way of life to stay relevant. More information can be found on the Import Vehicle Community’s webpage.

Auto Care Association members and aftermarket industry professionals are encouraged to share topics they would like to see addressed on Coffee and Conversation or any other feedback for the Import Vehicle Community by using this survey or by contacting Angela Chiang, liaison, Import Vehicle Community at angela.chiang@autocare.org
