Member Spotlight: Matt Fowler

by Zoi' Holloway

Matt Fowler

Can you briefly describe your aftermarket journey/path to your current position?

I had a unique path to the aftermarket. When I was working for Snap36 building out the market for 360 imaging, my CEO came to me one day and said, “you’re from Michigan, you should know cars right? Why don’t you go to this aftermarket conference, NCMA (now it’s called ACPN) and see what you can do?” Well needless to say I fell in love with the industry and 10 years later, I’m still here just with a new company behind me, Visual SKUs.

Favorite networking icebreaker?

What was your 15 minutes of fame moment? It’s a great way for me to tell people I was on the Jersey Shore.

Favorite free time activity?

Volleyball
Cooking and baking (Follow me: @Freakinfowler)
Playing with my puppy, Romeo. (Follow him: @freakinromeo)
Traveling
Wait, was this only supposed to be one activity? I like to do lots of things including just having a good time with my friends.

Why do you believe in YANG?

I believe in YANG because we can make the industry a better place through professional development, leadership and fostering human connection. Not many industries have professional groups that span different industry niches and across different functional areas. YANG welcomed me with open arms when I was early in this industry even though I wasn’t a manufacturer or a shop guy, but rather a software and photography person. I have met so many amazing people because of YANG and I hope that we can help others do the same!

Subcommittee Role?

Communications - I run social media. I’m pretty sure it’s because the team knows I never shut up…
