Five state legislatures are in regular session. Nebraska is in special session.
- Washington state launched a new instant rebate program for electric vehicles, offering up to $9,000 in rebates on EV purchases or leases, applied directly at participating dealerships. In a statement, Gov. Jay Inslee (D) said the program will make EVs more accessible to Washingtonians and encourage a shift to sustainable transportation.
- As of August 1, Minnesota scrap metal dealers now face new regulations to combat vehicle and catalytic converter thefts, requiring daily transaction reporting and proof of ownership for purchases.
- Michigan is investing $30 million in its 2025 budget to expand EV charging infrastructure, aiming to support the growing number of EVs on the road. State officials and drivers express optimism about the progress, though concerns about the current availability of charging stations remain.
