Engineering Manager- Catalog, Genuine Parts Company
Sam Russo, an Engineering Manager for the Catalog Master team at Genuine Parts Company, never imagined herself as a leader in IT. But her passion for the automotive industry and her skills in data management have brought her to where she is today. With a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts and a Master's degree in IT from Kennesaw State University, Sam has over 18 years of experience in the automotive scene. It all started when she got a job as a data manager at Omix-ADA, a Jeep aftermarket automotive parts manufacturer. Although Sam was new to the data management world, her dedication and hard work were quickly recognized. Within three months, she pushed Omix-ADA's product catalog to achieve Platinum Status within SEMA Data Co-Op. This success led to her being offered a position with GPC's Catalog team as a Catalog Data Analyst in 2016. Over the course of three years with GPC, Sam advanced to Sr. CDA, became certified in their MDM Platform Stibo STEP, and established herself as the unofficial motor oil data expert by working with motor oil suppliers to establish necessary attributes across the board. After leaving GPC to join OATS Solutions as their Product Manager for North America, Sam gained even more experience in the industry. She completed her Masters in IT while enhancing OATS' ACES implementation and PIM system to produce full PIES files. After two years, she felt ready for her next challenge, which led her to O'Reilly Auto Parts Catalog IT. Six months later, Sam received an unexpected call to return to GPC as their Engineering Manager for the Catalog team. When she's not managing data and leading her team, she's a mom to a 6.5-year-old girl who is a miniature version of herself. Sam's husband is also in the automotive industry and owns Speed Foundry of Roswell. Together, they can be found at local road tracks around the Atlanta area most weekends during the summer as well as the local Hill Climbs held across the Appalachian States..
