Growing up in the Washington, D.C. area primed Tod Moore for an interest in politics from a young age. “Almost everyone in my family has been involved in politics: from Capitol Hill, to state campaigns, to government agencies and presidential administrations,” said Tod Moore, manager, grassroots and advocacy, Auto Care Association. “Before joining Auto Care, I worked for the National Confectioners Association for five years and prior to that, I was a political fundraiser for Senate campaigns.” As the grassroots and advocacy manager, Moore is responsible for building and managing a robust grassroots network of the association’s members, a critical component of its federal and state lobbying efforts. “I engage with grassroots activists across the country, helping them to reinforce our policy positions with their members of Congress and state legislators,” said Moore. “My background in both political campaigns and trade associations has given me a unique set of skills that will allow me to grow our grassroot programs and facilitate our members in building direct relationships with their lawmakers.

what is your favorite part about working at the association?

Our members. Learning about their businesses and unique stories. The most rewarding aspect of my job is helping our members to engage in the political process and realize the power of using their voices to make change happen. Our lawmakers work for us, and it is their job to represent all of their constituents and my job allows me to connect lawmakers directly with those they represent

tell us about your life outside of work?

I live in D.C., just a few blocks from the National Zoo, with my partner, Shannon, and our 5-year-old Scottish Terrier, Winnie. I enjoy cooking, hiking, golfing, biking and visiting all of our great (and free) museums. I am a huge movie buff and love everything from the classics like Citizen Kane to the latest Marvel releases. I am also a big fan of hockey and baseball and try to catch a game whenever I can.
