2022 Impact Award Winner Interviews: Grace Hovis and Meagan Moody
Grace Hovis
Director, Marketing and Training
Hovis Auto & Truck Supply, Inc.
How many years have you been in the aftermarket industry
I have been in the aftermarket for as long as I can remember. My father started my brother and I in the business when we were old enough to push a broom. In 2019, I came into the business full time after graduating from Grove City College with a degree in Entrepreneurship. Growing up in the business, I always knew that I wanted to be a part of this industry. I’ve always looked up to my father and taken a great deal of pride in what he has built and accomplished through our family business, and knew that I wanted to be a part of that. After being in the business full time for a year, I began to get involved with the industry through serving on the Auto Care Association’s education committee, then went on to serve on the YANG council in 2021.
What are your "words to live by" or motto?
“Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” – Winston Churchill
Describe your duties in your current role.
I currently serve as marketing and training director for Hovis Auto & Truck Supply, Inc. I work closely with our sales team on promotions and customer events, oversee all our marketing, and directly oversee our hands-on technical training facility.
What is your proudest professional accomplishment so far?
My proudest accomplishment so far has been serving on the YANG council. As someone who has grown up in the industry and plans to end my career here as well within my own family business, the growth of the aftermarket and the next generation is especially important to me. To have been able to serve on this council, and help develop some of its latest offerings, has been a great honor.
Meagan Moody
Head of Customers and Strategy
ZF Aftermarket
How did you get your start in the aftermarket?
You can say in some ways I’ve been part of the industry since I was born. My grandfather started a parts business back in the late 60s, so my first job in the aftermarket was actually working in one of the stores. What kept me in the industry is the family I found. I knew it was home once I got to meet a couple of lifers who actually remembered selling to my grandfather back in the earlier days of their careers.
What are your "words to live by" or motto?
"It is not enough for a rider to know how to ride; she must also know how to fall.”
Describe your duties in your current role.;
My current role brings together ZF’s Strategy, Marketing, Digital Markets (eCom), Digitalization, and Customer Experience, Loyalty & Networks. This means I get to dive into the go-to-market and growth strategy for ZF across the North American aftermarket and then with my fantastic teams determine the best avenues to implement that path based on the needs and journeys of different customer groups.
What is your proudest professional accomplishment so far?
Definitely winning this award. It’s also really been the opportunity to extend my learnings outward for others. I used to hate public speaking. I used to hate training others. Now I love both, because seeing someone have it “click” or get excited about identifying how their role fits into the larger picture has been the most rewarding experience.
