Import Vehicle Community - Small

Our events are a key benefit to membership in the Import Vehicle Community, formerly the Auto International Association (AIA), allowing members to meet new business partners, and expand their automotive knowledge. Import Vehicle Community events at AAPEX continue to draw more import community members and guest participants, as more attendees view Import Vehicle Community's Fabulous Networking Reception, Luncheon/Awards Program and Seminar Series as must-attend events at AAPEX.

We would like to thank all 2017 Import Vehicle Community Events at AAPEX sponsors.

Rebuilding and Servicing Hybrid Electric Vehicle Batteries

Wednesday, November 1, 2017 - 2 p.m. - 3 p.m.
The Venetian, Galileo 901

Moderator: Marty Gold, Gold n' Brown
Panelists: Dr. Mark Quarto, Quarto Technical Services (QTS); Dave Callari, Global Parts Source; Frank Scandura, Frank's European Service

Description: Since the introduction of the first Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) more than 16 years ago, this technology has now earned its place as an essential part of the automotive service market. The HEV high voltage (HV) battery pack is by far the system that is most subjected to aging and failure, and can significantly affect the performance of the vehicle.

Attendees will learn:

  • What are contributing factors to battery pack failure and what those in the business should know about battery pack aging.
  • Is proactive maintenance on battery packs important and why.
  • How to confidently confirm a battery pack failure or validate a current complaint by testing the pack State-of-Health (SOH) using a simple drive cycle and scan tool BEFORE replacing a Hybrid Battery.
  • How the battery pack can significantly affect vehicle fuel economy and driveability, even if the MIL is not illuminated and there are no diagnostic codes.
  • The importance of selecting a quality rebuilt battery pack supplier and how this affects a shop's profitability.

Synthetic Oils: Rejuvenate Your Maintenance Service Business

Thursday, November 2, 2017 - 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
The Venetian, Marco Polo Room 701

Moderator: Marty Gold, Gold n' Brown
Panelists: Mark Mathias, BIZOL Lubricants; Mark Malone, CRP Industries; Frank Scandura, Frank's European Service

Description: The number of higher-quality motor oils on the market today has extended manufacturers’ recommended oil change intervals well beyond the 3,000-mile mark. While this might seem like a blow to your business, incorporating higher-quality oils with a scheduled maintenance package for your customers can take your business to new heights.

Attendees will learn:
  • The composition of synthetic oil and what it can do for engine performance and longevity.
  • How repair shop owners and managers can market synthetic oil to their customers.
  • How to better establish your stop as the “go-to” synthetic oil specialist, thereby boosting your bottom line in this key service category.

Check back for updates as more sessions, speakers and the schedule are confirmed. More information can be found on AAPEXedu's website.
