brand table

The Brand Table serves as the aftermarket brand identification database. This database contains reference data used as an important component of automotive data and communication standards. The PIES standard uses Auto Care Association market brand codes to uniquely identify products and traded items. The ACES standard refers to Auto Care Association market brand codes to identify the brands included in an electronic catalog data file. The IPO Standard refers to Auto Care Association market brand codes to identify the brand for a part number within an order. To enhance communication efficiency in the industry, the Auto Care Association has developed a coded table of brands, brand owners and their parent company names for use by all industry participants. Use of the brand table reduces excessive data management and mapping throughout the industry and reduces errors in representation of brands.

The Brand Table is a hierarchy that includes parent company names, brand owners, brands and sub-brands. Unique four-character IDs are assigned to each record in the table.

The brand table is accessed through the Vehicle Information Portal (VIP). In VIP,  users can query for specific values and download the complete current table. Requests for new brands are also made through VIP.  Brand Table information is also available through a web service that returns net change information.
